Abstract
The article offers a historical background of a potted skeletal couple seated with their skeletal child, made sometime between the third and seventh century. It attributes the pot to the skilled Moche artisans who inhabited the north coast of Peru between the second and ninth centuries. It considers the pot as a representation of the transition from life to death that was central to Moche religion.
