Abstract
Arndís Sigríður Árnadóttir, an interior designer, librarian, curator, and design historian, passed away in Paris at the age of 83. Her research on the development of the domestic interior in Iceland from 1900-1970 is considered a significant contribution to Icelandic design history. Arndís had a diverse educational background, studying art history in the United States and completing degrees in interior design, library and information science, and design history. She worked at the library of the Icelandic College of Art and Craft for thirty years and later at the National Museum of Iceland. Arndís authored a PhD thesis on the formative development of the domestic interior in Iceland, which was published as a book and has become a standard text in Icelandic design history. She also contributed to various publications and curated exhibitions. Arndís was planning to attend conferences and had completed a manuscript on the work of a furniture designer before her passing. She is remembered for her valuable contributions to the field of Icelandic design history and as a role model for defying age stereotypes. [Extracted from the article]
