Abstract
Two mid-6th cent. bc black-figure amphorae (one of unknown whereabouts once in a private collection in Basel, the other in Würzburg, Martin von Wagner Museum L 169), recently claimed to be of Euboean manufacture, can be attributed to the same hand as the neck-amphora Sydney, Nicholson Collection NM 98.18. Its affinity to vases painted in Lydos' ergasterion in the Athenian Kerameikos had already been noted by A. D. Trendall in the Handbook of the Nicholson Museum in 1948, its Attic manufacture now confirmed by clay analysis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
