Abstract
The article discusses the work of special makeup effects designer Pierre Olivier Persin in the film "The Substance," directed by Coralie Fargeat. Persin used practical makeup and prosthetics to create the physical transformations of the characters, including a ghastly fusion scene. The makeup process, which sometimes took up to seven hours, aimed to be as comfortable as possible for the actors, with Demi Moore spending long hours in the makeup chair. Persin also addressed challenges like blood spray effects and the maintenance of prosthetics during filming. [Extracted from the article]
