Abstract

This article focuses on Native American sculpture and carving, highlighting the cultural significance, materials, and ceremonial symbolism inherent in these art forms across different tribes. It features contemporary Native American artists such as Karen Sixkiller, a Cherokee Nation sculptor known for metal and ceramic works displayed in public installations; Jared Tso Navajo (Diné), who creates clay and bronze sculptures reflecting Navajo livestock traditions; and Robin Willeto, a Navajo wood carver with works in major museum collections.
