Abstract

The article highlights various initiatives and leaders addressing climate change and environmental conservation. Hawaii's Governor Josh Green established a Climate Advisory Team that proposed a "green fee" on tourism to fund climate-resiliency projects, expected to generate $100 million annually. Violet Sage Walker, chairwoman of the Northern Chumash Tribal Council, successfully advocated for the Chumash Heritage National Marine Sanctuary and is now working to reclaim sacred land for her tribe. Neha Mankani founded the Mama Baby Fund in Pakistan, providing essential care to mothers and babies in a solar-powered clinic, while ‘Aulani Wilhelm, CEO of Nia Tero, has significantly increased support for Indigenous guardianship of ecosystems. Lastly, Benji Backer, founder of Nature Is Nonpartisan, played a key role in the establishment of a council aimed at conserving public lands and protecting wildlife through a recent executive order.
