Abstract

This article focuses on the creation and development of *Drawing Blood*, a graphic novel series from Image Comics co-created by Kevin Eastman, best known for cocreating the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, along with writer David Avallone and artists Ben Bishop and Troy Little. The series blends fiction and autobiography through the story of Shane "Books" Bookman, a comics creator whose career parallels elements of Eastman’s own experiences, using metaphor and fictional characters to explore the creative and business sides of the comics industry. The collaborators discuss their creative process, the integration of multiple art styles, and the use of a comic-within-a-comic to enrich the narrative. They describe *Drawing Blood* as a personal, innovative work that combines humor, drama, and industry commentary, distinguishing it from traditional autobiographies or parodies.
