Abstract

The article presents information on the military history of Lahore, Pakistan. Topics discussed include origins and early fortifications, watch posts and citadels in the early centuries, the importance of Lahore for military reasons, first battles and early sieges like the city's capture by Mahmud of Ghazni in 1021-1022, and the city's smaller forts and defensive compounds.
