Abstract
The Alliance of Marine Mammal Parks and Aquariums (AMMPA) held its 2024 Annual Meeting in San Diego, California, marking the first time the association has met on the West Coast. The meeting featured speakers discussing topics such as marine animal research, conservation, and animal welfare. Presentations included talks on conserving marine mammals in changing oceans, the work of the Hubbs-SeaWorld Research Institute, and the Marine Mammal Research Network. The meeting also addressed animal welfare practices in zoological facilities and included discussions on mental health needs of zoo and aquarium employees. [Extracted from the article]
