Abstract
A recent study conducted at Jagiellonian University explores the pragmatic mechanisms behind fabricated misunderstandings in humor, using Monty Python's dialogues as a case study. The research analyzes how miscommunication can occur at explicit or implicit levels of meaning, involving different sources and repair strategies, to create incongruity essential for humor. The study also highlights the role of weak communication in processing film dialogues by viewers, contributing to the punchline effect.
