Abstract
The article focuses on the interstellar object 3I/ATLAS, only the third known space rock from outside our solar system to visit, which was tracked extensively by NASA, the European Space Agency, and multiple spacecraft and telescopes. Discovered by the Asteroid Terrestrial-impact Last Alert System (ATLAS) telescope in Chile, 3I/ATLAS poses no threat to Earth, passing no closer than 168 million miles. While some, including Harvard astrophysicist Avi Loeb, have speculated that 3I/ATLAS might be an alien spacecraft, the scientific consensus attributes its behavior to natural cometary phenomena. The comet made its closest approach to the sun on October 30 and is now leaving the solar system, with observations continuing as it departs.
