Abstract

Europa, a moon of Jupiter, is believed to have a subsurface ocean and is considered one of the most promising places to search for life in our solar system. However, the geologic activity of Europa's seafloor is still unknown. Some scientists believe that the seafloor is geologically inert and therefore unable to sustain life, while others suggest that there may be mysterious mechanisms at work. The upcoming Europa Clipper mission aims to gather more information about the moon's ocean and potentially determine if it contains the necessary ingredients for life. Additionally, there is speculation that Europa may have had more habitable conditions in the past, which could have implications for the search for life elsewhere in the universe.
