Abstract
The article focuses on a volcanic eruption in southwest Iceland that has led to the evacuation of the town of Grindavík. The eruption, which began early in the morning, was preceded by over 200 earthquakes, with the largest measuring 3.5 in magnitude. Lava from the eruption has already destroyed at least two houses and is flowing towards the town, prompting authorities to implement defensive measures to protect residential areas. Iceland's President has assured the public that there is no immediate threat to human life, although infrastructure is at risk, and travel remains unaffected. Safe Travel Iceland has advised the public to avoid the area, which is currently closed to visitors. [Extracted from the article]
