Abstract
The article focuses on new evidence confirming active volcanism on Venus, based on a reanalysis of images taken by NASA's Magellan spacecraft in 1991. Researchers observed that the volcanic vent of Maat Mons expanded significantly between two observations 243 Earth days apart, indicating an eruption had occurred. This finding supports long-held scientific suspicions that Venus, similar in size and heat to Earth, remains volcanically active. The discovery informs expectations for upcoming missions such as the European Space Agency’s EnVision, which aims to capture high-resolution radar images of Venus in the 2030s.
