Abstract
Researchers in Florida prepared for Hurricane Milton, repairing equipment and moving research samples to safe locations. The storm caused damage, including two tornadoes at the Archbold Biological Station. The World Health Organization highlighted the importance of vaccines in combating antimicrobial resistance, estimating that 44 vaccines could prevent over half a million deaths annually. NASA's Europa Clipper was launched to explore Jupiter's moon Europa, despite budget concerns. The U.K.'s Our Future Health project aims to enroll 5 million participants, with a focus on diversity. The U.S. National Science Foundation faced criticism for its response to sexual harassment in Antarctica. French scientists expressed disappointment over the country's research budget falling short of targets. Plan S, a push for open access to scientific articles, has seen progress but mostly in hybrid journals. [Extracted from the article]
