Abstract

However, Pick is primarily concerned with narratological and heuristic questions, and as such her monograph focusses on questions of genre, narrative voice and referentiality. In four cases, these are the best-known texts by these authors - Améry's I Jenseits von Schuld und Sühne i (1966), Ruth Klüger's I weiter leben i (1992), Imre Kertész's I Fateless i (1996), and Edgar Hilsenrath's I Der Nazi & der Friseur i (1977). She also includes original archival work in her analysis, providing novel insights into, among other issues, Klüger's publishing history and the version history of Hilsenrath and Drach's novels.
