Abstract
The article focuses on Huayna Cápac, the 11th Inca emperor who ruled the Inca Empire at its territorial peak in the late 15th and early 16th centuries. Known as "The Young Generous One," Huayna Cápac consolidated power through administrative reforms, infrastructure improvements, and military campaigns, notably a prolonged conflict in the northern Kingdom of Quito (modern Ecuador). His reign saw the expansion and fortification of cities, enhancement of road networks, and establishment of food stores to support both military and civilian needs. Huayna’s death, likely from smallpox introduced by Europeans, precipitated a succession dispute between his sons Huáscar and Atahualpa, which contributed to the empire’s eventual decline.
