Abstract
Joseph Boakai, a 78-year-old politician with four decades of experience, is facing the challenge of appealing to a predominantly young population in Liberia. He served as vice president from 2006 to 2018 under Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, the first elected female president in Africa. Boakai comes from the Indigenous population, not the US-Liberian elite, and was born in a remote village in Lofa County. He emphasizes his humble origins and portrays himself as a hardworking individual who has risen through the ranks. Boakai is married and has four children. [Extracted from the article]
