Abstract

Bywater Call is a Canadian blues-rock band influenced by the rootsy New Orleans vibe. Their third studio album, Shepherd, combines country-tinged guitars, jazz-funk elements, and swelling organs to create an earthy Americana sound. Frontwoman Meghan Parnell's honey-smoked vocals offer "life lessons" and observations of humanity. The band's jazz background adds a unique element to their music, with brilliant improvised sections. While they draw inspiration from New Orleans, their sound also captures the warmth and distinctiveness of Canadian influences like The Band, Neil Young, and Joni Mitchell. Bywater Call has gained recognition in the blues world and will be touring the UK in October. [Extracted from the article]
