Abstract
This article focuses on the collective bibliographical output of four early seventeenth-century authors from Little Gidding—John Ferrar, his brother Nicholas Ferrar, their sister Susanna, and John’s son Nicholas—who produced at least thirty-eight works including biblical concordances, commonplace books, translations, and instructional texts. Originating as a private family project aimed at religious education and practical skills, their manuscript and printed volumes, especially the biblical Harmonies that combined the four Gospels into unified narratives, gained royal and aristocratic attention and later international bibliographical interest. The article traces the provenance and dispersal of these works, many of which survive in institutional collections, while highlighting the ambitions and collaborative nature of the Ferrar family’s literary and educational endeavors at Little Gidding.
