Abstract
A sudden wildfire, named the Franklin Fire, broke out in Malibu, California, prompting thousands of residents to evacuate or seek safety. Pepperdine University's campus, where over 800 students were sheltering in place, was threatened by the flames, but firefighters managed to prevent the fire from reaching school buildings. The fire caused damage to some structures in Malibu, including the famed Malibu Pier, but so far, there have been no reported deaths or injuries. Celebrities like Dick Van Dyke and Rainn Wilson were among the evacuees, and expensive beachfront homes belonging to celebrities like Beyonce and Jay-Z were spared by the fire.
