Abstract
The article focuses on Conrad Asman's recent choral composition, *Saint Peter's Hope (John 21)*, commissioned for unaccompanied double choir with a new text by former diplomat and academic Rory Stewart. Asman, a South African-born composer now based in London and completing a PhD at the Royal Academy of Music, draws on diverse influences and often explores non-musical themes, such as particle physics and contemporary social issues, exemplified by his opera *Trial by Media*. The world premiere of *Saint Peter's Hope* was performed by The Choir of Trinity College Cambridge, directed by Steven Grahl, who also assisted in navigating the piece's complex harmonies. The work is part of the 2025 New Music series, which offers free licensed access to scores and performances to support emerging composers.
