Abstract
The article focuses on Simone Biles' journey of prioritizing mental health alongside her gymnastics career, particularly surrounding her comeback at the 2024 Paris Olympics. After withdrawing from most events at the 2021 Tokyo Games due to the "twisties" and mental health struggles, Biles took two years off to focus on therapy and family support, including her husband Jonathan Owens, an NFL player. Her openness about mental health has inspired many and contributed to increased athlete safety protocols and mental health resources within USA Gymnastics and the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee. At Paris, Biles balanced therapy with competition, winning multiple medals and reaffirming her status as the most decorated gymnast in history.
