Abstract
Jacob Rothschild, a prominent banker and philanthropist, has passed away at the age of 87. Rothschild left his family bank, N.M. Rothschild & Sons Ltd., in 1980 to establish his own financial empire, including the successful Rothschild Investment Trust (now RIT Capital Partners Plc). He was known for his philanthropic work, serving as chairman of the boards of the National Gallery and the National Heritage Lottery Fund. Rothschild was also a noted art collector and played a significant role in the restoration of historic buildings.
