Abstract

The article focuses on Billy Wilder's 1964 sex comedy *Kiss Me, Stupid*, which presents a dispassionate and acerbic portrayal of human weaknesses, coarseness, passions, and vices through a farcical plot involving a singer, a jealous composer, and a stranded cocktail waitress. The film, based loosely on an Italian stage comedy, uses its morally ambiguous characters and situations not for satire but as a basis for comedy, combining slapstick, double entendres, and moments of unexpected tenderness. Wilder’s approach is characterized by a personal, stylized vision that neither preaches nor condemns, resulting in a work that is both harsh and occasionally touching, with a complex, double-edged ending.
