Abstract

This article focuses on a new bilingual French edition of Christine de Pizan's *Le Livre de la Cité des dames*, based on the Paris BnF, français 1178 manuscript (MS P), likely produced around 1415–1416 and possibly the last version overseen by the author. Edited by Anne Paupert and Claire Le Ninan, the volume offers a modern French translation alongside the original text, detailed critical notes, and scholarly analysis that illuminate Christine's writing process, use of sources, and the work's allegorical structure centered on the figures of Reason, Justice, and Rectitude. The edition also examines the significance of the title and the manuscript's illuminations, suggesting connections to Christine's later life. This publication provides new insights and research opportunities, enhancing accessibility and understanding of this seminal feminist text.
