Abstract
"Boudicca" by P.C. Cast is a historical epic that reimagines the life of Boudicca, an Iron Age Celtic queen who challenged the Roman army. After the death of her husband, Boudicca becomes queen and is urged by the goddess Andraste to seek vengeance against the Romans. With the help of allies, including high Druid Derwyn and seer Rhan, Boudicca leads her army in successful attacks against the Roman governor. Despite her victories, Rhan foresees a dire future for Boudicca and tries to change her fate. Cast portrays Boudicca as a strong and resilient heroine that readers will support.
