Abstract

The W Awards, in partnership with The Architectural Review and the Architects' Journal, have been recognizing the achievements of women and non-binary individuals in architecture for nearly a decade. This year, Lesley Lokko became the first woman of color to receive the RIBA Royal Gold Medal, and Angela Davis was awarded the Ada Louise Huxtable Prize for her advocacy of social justice. The Jane Drew Prize went to Iwona Buczkowska for her overlooked social housing projects in France. The article also highlights the shortlisted architects for the MJ Long Prize and the Moira Gemmill Prize, as well as the winner of the Prize for Research in Gender and Architecture. However, the article acknowledges that there is still work to be done in addressing inequality and oppression in the field of architecture. [Extracted from the article]
