Abstract
Awes Freeman next traces how Charlemagne's descendants are associated less and less with the Good Shepherd, replaced effectively by comparisons to King David. In I The Good Shepherd i , Jennifer Awes Freeman challenges anti-imperial interpretations of early images depicting Christ as a shepherd. In her conclusion, Awes Freeman moves quickly through Good Shepherd images in the following centuries up to the present day, when the Good Shepherd is more likely to attend children in saccharine Precious Moments figurines than to represent imperial power.
