Abstract
This study focuses on the textual analysis of Christine de Pizan's *La Cité des dames* through the methods of authorial philology and textual genetics. The author argues that Christine composed an initial version (V1) in 1405–1406 and a revised version (V2) in 1406–1407, with the latter demonstrating greater rhetorical sophistication, including the use of synonyms and parallel structures to enhance clarity and elegance. The revisions reflect Christine's deliberate effort to refine her work both artistically and thematically, aiming to elevate the status of women by countering misogynistic narratives with examples of female heroism and dignity. The revised version also features illuminations by the Cité des dames artist, depicting the author and symbolic figures from her vision. The book includes a detailed appendix comparing parallel passages from both versions.
