Abstract

This article provides an analysis of *Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands*, a 2017 open-world military shooter developed by Ubisoft Paris and Milan and published by Ubisoft. The game centers on Nomad, leader of an American special forces team operating in a fictionalized Bolivia to dismantle a drug cartel, blending tactical squad commands with open-world exploration. While the game offers engaging moments of chaotic gameplay and a richly detailed environment, its missions lack variety and its narrative and depiction of Bolivia have been critiqued as stereotypical and cartoonish. Despite these shortcomings, *Wildlands* is noted for its core gameplay loop involving intelligence gathering and side missions that enhance player abilities and equipment.
