Abstract

In the article, the author discusses how the convictions of healthcare professionals Beverly Allitt and Harold Shipman showed that there are professionals who have malevolent and deceptive motives in practicing their professions and their potential effects on the culture of trust in medical practice. Also cited are the issues that arose from said cases like the management of controlled drugs in the community and the need for said professionals to focus a watchful gaze on their colleagues.
