Abstract
The article focuses on how companies can achieve sustained, consistent growth by developing an integrated "growth system," rather than relying on episodic successes or short-term tactics. Based on a study of 2,142 large U.S. public companies, it identifies five key components of such a system: defining a compelling customer outcome, architecting the right capabilities, creating an integrated operating model, continuously renewing customer insights, and measuring returns to reallocate investments effectively. Examples from companies like Toast, IKEA, Vertex, Adobe, Roblox, and Salesforce illustrate how these elements work together to drive long-term growth. The article emphasizes that building a growth system requires CEO commitment, cross-functional collaboration, a multi-year roadmap, and dedicated leadership focus.
