Abstract

The article focuses on the International Astronomical Search Collaboration (IASC) and Colombia’s significant role in its global asteroid search campaigns. IASC engages citizen scientists worldwide, including many without formal scientific training, to analyze astronomical data and identify asteroids, contributing to planetary defense and STEM education. Colombia ranks highly in participation and provisional asteroid discoveries, supported by national groups such as All Colombia and Distrito Asteroid, which collaborate with academic institutions. These campaigns foster international cooperation, public awareness of space science, and inspire interest in astronomy and related fields.
