Abstract

The article focuses on a 1993 concert in Central Park featuring tenor Luciano Pavarotti, accompanied by the New York Philharmonic under Leone Magiera, performing works by composers such as Verdi, Donizetti, and Puccini. Despite being 57 years old at the time, Pavarotti's voice retained a notable purity and authority, though the emotional expressiveness in some arias was described as limited. The program also included performances by flutist Andrea Griminelli, the Boys Choir of Harlem, and orchestral overtures led by Magiera. The Blu-ray release of the concert lacks a contemporary critical assessment, instead featuring an outdated commentary from the concert era.
