Abstract

Sarabjit Singh Khalsa, the son of Beant Singh, one of the assassins of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, is running as an Independent candidate for the Faridkot Lok Sabha seat in Punjab. Khalsa, a Class XII dropout, has previously contested elections in 2009 and 2014 but was unsuccessful. In 2019, he ran as a candidate for the Bahujan Samaj Party. Khalsa's mother and grandfather have also held political positions in the past. In 2014, Khalsa declared assets worth Rs 3.5 crore in his election affidavit. [Extracted from the article]
