Abstract
This is a problem, for without a rule that relates the metalaws of the multiverse to the local laws within our universe, multiverse musings get caught in a spiral of paradoxes that leaves us without verifiable predictions. Features IT WAS common knowledge among students at the University of Cambridge that whoever obtained the best marks in the final part of the mathematical tripos exams would be summoned to see Stephen Hawking. Yes, Stephen and I found out, but only by relinquishing the idea, inherent in multiverse cosmology, that our theories can take a God's-eye view, as if somehow standing outside the cosmos.
