Abstract
The article explores the changing nature of movie stardom in contemporary Hollywood, using the example of Harry Styles and his transition from music to film. It argues that the traditional economic value of movie stars has shifted to preexisting characters and brands with built-in audiences. While movie stardom may no longer be central to Hollywood's economic logic, it still holds cultural and economic power, albeit in a different form. The article also examines Styles's performance in the film "Don't Worry Darling" as a case study of how stars employ images and personas associated with movie stardom. Overall, the article suggests that movie stardom is evolving and takes on new functions in the current media landscape. [Extracted from the article]
