Abstract

A recent report from the University of La Laguna discusses the findings of a study on the effect of chess on cognition. The researchers used graph theory to analyze cognitive data from 19 chess players and 19 controls. The results showed that chess players had a slightly reorganized cognitive architecture, with distinct modules related to visual, verbal, and executive/attention/processing speed functions. These findings suggest that chess may have a positive impact on visuospatial abilities and the organization of cognitive processes. [Extracted from the article]
