Abstract

This article examines the interpretations of the Anaximander fragment by Eric Voegelin and Martin Heidegger. Both philosophers see the fragment as significant in understanding human existence, with Heidegger focusing on justice and Voegelin delving into historical experiences of justice. The article discusses the challenges of comparing their philosophies, including Voegelin's reluctance due to Heidegger's association with Nazism. It concludes that studying their interpretations can help readers grasp the dangers of applying abstract ideas to politics and gain a better understanding of political reality. The text includes Greek fragments attributed to Anaximander, with translations and interpretations by Heidegger and Voegelin. [Extracted from the article]
