Abstract

The article focuses on the growing emphasis of advanced social work degree programs on social justice to prepare students for meaningful work with underserved communities. It highlights how contemporary social movements and concerns, such as racial justice, LGBTQ+ rights, and climate change, have increased interest in social work careers centered on advocacy and systemic change. Graduate social work education offers diverse specialization options and integrates social justice themes across coursework and field experiences, including practicums and internships. Faculty and students from the University of Denver Graduate School of Social Work emphasize the profession's commitment to addressing barriers faced by marginalized populations through research, clinical practice, and activism.
