Abstract
The article focuses on an upcoming retrospective exhibition of the late Cuban-American artist Ana Mendieta at Tate Modern in London, running from July 9, 2023, to January 10, 2027. The exhibition, curated by Michael Wellen and Valentine Umansky, aims to highlight Mendieta's diverse body of work, including her conceptual and ephemeral pieces, while minimizing emphasis on her biography and personal life. Notably, the exhibition will feature early paintings and a restaging of an indoor forest installation, as well as photographs from her Silueta series, which explore themes related to the feminine body and nature. This retrospective follows the museum's acquisition of Mendieta's video works, making it the largest public collection of her filmworks. [Extracted from the article]
