Abstract

A bipartisan group of senators, led by Amy Klobuchar, has called on the Justice Department to investigate whether Formula 1 (F1) is violating US antitrust laws by rejecting a bid from Michael Andretti to join the racing series. The senators are concerned that F1 may be excluding the team due to its partnership with General Motors Co.'s Cadillac division, potentially at the behest of foreign automakers. F1's commercial arm rejected the bid on the grounds that the team would not be competitive for at least another two years. The senators argue that the Andretti team deserves a fair chance to compete and question whether F1's actions amount to a violation of US antitrust law. [Extracted from the article]
