Abstract

This article focuses on the 50th Anniversary 3-CD edition of John Williams' score for the film *Jaws*, released by Intrada. The edition offers a complete restoration and remastering of the original 1975 MCA album, the full film score, and a third disc of alternates, source cues, and previously unheard takes, providing the most comprehensive presentation of Williams' work to date. The score is noted for its iconic two-note motif that evokes fear and suspense, as well as its varied musical textures that range from tension-building to lyrical and ironic passages. The set includes extensive liner notes and essays that contextualize the score's creation and significance, highlighting its enduring impact as both a film and concert work.
