Abstract
Donald Trump's recent success in the Republican primaries confirms that the party has shifted away from the traditional Reagan-era platform. Trump's nomination for a third consecutive presidential run solidifies his position as the party's leader. While Reagan Republicans focused on foreign policy, free-market economics, and social conservatism, Trump has challenged these principles with his support for tariffs, immigration restrictions, and an isolationist foreign policy. Despite initial resistance, Trump's appeal to the party's base and disaffected voters has endured, leading to his nomination and victory in 2016. This shift away from Reagan's ideology is also reflected in the views of primary voters on issues such as Russia, US power projection, and free trade. The rise of Trump-like politicians within the party, such as Tom Cotton and Ron DeSantis, further indicates the fading influence of the Reagan era. [Extracted from the article]
