Abstract
Change management in China-based multinational corporations (MNCs) is an important yet underexamined segment, shaped by two key polarities--West-East and business-people. While Tao signifies the universal principle of all things, the Tao of change management presented in this article suggests an Eastern approach drawing on the author's over 25 years of practicing OD in MNCs in China as a native Chinese educated in the Western OD tradition. The author engages Taoism and Confucianism to navigate these polarities through changing face, and articulated as Five Principles. This approach is influenced by the work of Marshak, as well as Lynton and Thøgersen. The article offers an alternative perspective for change agents working in complex, dual-cultural business environments. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
