Abstract

Hinchliffe Stadium in Paterson, New Jersey, has been restored after nearly being demolished. The stadium has a rich history in the Negro leagues, hosting teams like the New York Black Yankees and Newark Eagles, as well as future Hall of Famers such as Josh Gibson and Larry Doby. The restoration project, which cost $109 million, also included the addition of senior housing, a parking garage, and a museum dedicated to the history of Hinchliffe Stadium and the Negro leagues. The New Jersey Jackals, a minor-league team, now calls Hinchliffe Stadium home, and there are hopes of hosting an MLB game in the future. Extracted from the article
