Abstract

The Bhutto Zardari clan, a prominent Pakistani political party, has joined a coalition led by Shehbaz Sharif, potentially making him the next prime minister. The coalition aims to keep their main rival, Imran Khan, out of power. The two parties have enough support to form a government, and the coalition plans to appoint former President Asif Ali Zardari as president. This cooperation could help the new administration address economic challenges and negotiate a new loan with the International Monetary Fund. Khan's party, which won the most seats but fell short of a majority, is alleging vote rigging. The Election Commission of Pakistan and the interim government deny these charges. This is not the first time the Bhutto Zardari party and Sharif's party have joined forces, as they previously ousted Khan in 2022. [Extracted from the article]
