Abstract

The article offers information on the intertextuality between Boethius' "Consolation of Philosophy" and Thomas More's "Dialogue of Comfort against Tribulation," considering them under the rubric of Menippean satire. Topics include the ironic situation of both men, imprisoned for political reasons, and their use of literary masterpieces for personal comfort, consolation, and instruction for others.
