Abstract
The article reviews *The Greco-Persian Wars: A Short History with Documents* by Erik Jensen, an Associate Professor of History at Salem University, Massachusetts, which offers a historical overview and a curated collection of eighty-five primary documents related to the Greco-Persian Wars. The book includes a balanced presentation of Greek and Persian perspectives, featuring translations of key texts such as Herodotus and Thucydides, and covers themes like Persian imperial organization, ideology, and military campaigns from 499 to 387 BCE. Jensen emphasizes the complexity of the conflict, challenging traditional heroic narratives by highlighting Persia’s frontier challenges and its relations with Egypt and Greece. This volume is intended as a resource for teachers and students seeking to incorporate Persian viewpoints into their study of the wars.
